Detroit Film Festival Aids the Establishment of a New Local Jewish Diversity Event
We wanted our entire community to know about this unique opportunity set for Sunday, April 19th, just down the road in Portage, Michigan.
We are bringing a bit of Detroit's much larger Lenore Marwil Jewish Film Festival to our corner of the state and want to invite your community to this unique event. This is sponsored by the area Jewish congregations: Temple Beth El of Battle Creek, and Congregation of Moses and Temple B'nai Israel of Kalamazoo.
Movies include:
* Max Minsky and Me (Germany): A family film about a young girl mixing her preparation for her bat mitzvah and her dream of playing basketball.
* The Hope (USA); A film about Jewish youth connecting through their Jewish rock music
* Circumcise Me (USA): The hilarious story of comedian Yisrael Campbell's conversions to Judaism.
* Noodle (Israel): A comedic drama of an Israeli flight attendant attempt to reunite and adorable Chinese boy with his deported mother.
* The Counterfeiters (Austria): The 2007 Oscar winning film based on the true story of Jewish prisoners forced to choose between their survival and aiding the Nazi war machine.
The showings at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm with a different film at each showing. All shows are at the Celebration Cinema near the Crossroads Mall in Portage.
We will have some booklets, fliers, postcards and press releases available regarding the event.
A web site devoted to the festival is at http://www.swmichjff.9f.com. The web site shares additional information on our selection of films including trailers. Feel free to share that web address.
